Collections

The Collections Section of the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Tribal Historic Preservation Office is responsible for the preservation, ethical documentation, processing, curation and management of archaeological specimens collected through fieldwork on tribal lands owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The Tribal Historic Preservation Office’s collections include prehistoric and historic artifacts, historic maps and aerials, and a research library of over 450 books and journals relating to Archaeology and the Seminole Tribe. These collections allow the THPO office to further the understanding of the heritage and culture of the Seminole people. 

 The Collections Section is also responsible for the maintenance and curation of new information pertaining to the Seminole Site File.The Seminole Site File is a repository for all cultural resource information (historic, archaeological, and architectural) pertinent to the Reservation lands held by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.  The use of historical documents, tribal traditions, and non-destructive archaeology allow for a better understanding of the origins and heritage of the Seminole people.
